This dossier The Augustinian doctrine of the Trinity follows the publication of the work by Michel Corbin, published by Éditions du Cerf in 2016. The author offers a continuous reading of Saint Augustine's De Trinitate.
The problematic that commands it prompted the Catholic Academy of Val de Seine to organize an academic day entirely devoted to this work with the participation of Michel Corbin.
Michel Corbin is one of the greats who have rediscovered the Fathers of the Church. In The Augustinian Doctrine of the Trinity, the author examines the doctrine of the Trinity as it may have been exposed in two great works of the Latin West: the treaty of Hilaire de Poitiers a little before 360 and that of Augustine at the beginning of the 5th century. The book reads this one next to the one it illuminates. Michel Corbin sheds light on the questions raised by the Augustinian approach through the ages and which until then remained unresolved.
The contributions notably confront Augustine's treatise with that of Hilaire de Poitiers, take a look at the theology of Gregory of Nazianze and on the Vedantine trinity in Shankara.
